OUR MISSION

Indian Professional Journalists Association (IPJA)

At the Indian Professional Journalists Association (IPJA), our mission is to uphold the highest standards of journalism in service of truth, equity, and democratic accountability. We exist to empower journalists across India - from bustling metros to rural heartlands - with the tools, protection, and solidarity they need to report fearlessly and ethically in an era of rapid change and rising challenges.

We believe journalism is not merely a profession, but a public trust. In that spirit, we are committed to:

IPJA Journalists at Work

Voices of Integrity and Courage

  • Championing Press Freedom: Defending the right to report without fear, censorship, or coercion - whether from state, corporate, or ideological forces.
  • Elevating Ethical Standards: Promoting accuracy, fairness, transparency, and accountability in every form of storytelling.
  • Amplifying Marginalized Voices: Supporting journalism that reflects the diversity of India - across caste, gender, language, region, and class.
  • Fostering Professional Growth: Providing training, mentorship, and resources to help journalists adapt, innovate, and lead in a digital-first world.
  • Building a Culture of Solidarity: Creating a nationwide network where journalists support one another legally, emotionally, and professionally - especially in times of crisis.

We are progressive not in partisanship, but in purpose - to push journalism forward, to question power, and to ensure that the stories that matter are told with courage and care.

IPJA is where conscience meets craft. Where truth finds protection. Where journalism becomes a force for justice.

FEATURED CAMPAIGNS

Where Journalism Fights Back. Where Voices Rise Together.

IPJA's campaigns are more than calls to action - they are collective movements to protect press freedom, amplify marginalized voices, and reshape the media landscape for the better.

#FreeThePress

Free The Press

Legal Aid & Solidarity for Journalists Under Threat

Across India, journalists face sedition charges, unlawful detentions, and digital surveillance. This campaign provides emergency legal support, public advocacy, and a national database of press freedom violations.

#DigitalSafetyNow

Digital Safety Now

Cybersecurity for the Newsroom

From phishing attacks to spyware, digital threats are the new frontline. Free digital hygiene workshops, cybersecurity toolkits in English and regional languages, and partnerships with ethical tech providers.

#ClimateDeservesCoverage

Climate Deserves Coverage

Empowering Local Reporters on the Climate Frontlines

India's climate crisis is underreported - especially in rural and coastal regions. We train journalists in climate science, fund hyperlocal reporting projects, and collaborate with scientists for data access.

#VerifyFirst

Verify Before You Amplify

Combating Misinformation, One Story at a Time

In an age of viral falsehoods, we promote fact-checking workshops for journalists and citizens, regional language verification tools, and school and college media literacy programs.

Each campaign is powered by your voice, your courage, and your commitment to truth.

Together, we don't just report the news - we shape the future of journalism.
